Leroy A 'Bec','Roy' Bechtol (December 28, 1893 – April 4, 1959) Leroy A, son of Abraham Lincoln Becthol and Josephine Elizabeth (Gregory) Bechtol, was born in Alvordton Ohio and attended the schools of that time. He and his parents and brother Harry moved to Battle Creek about 1909. He never completed high school but did graduate from Michigan Business and Normal College in Battle Creek 20 Nov. 1911. Was Chief Petty Officer in the Navy in WW 1; was in the banking business all his life; spent 12 years in Arizona, as Deputy Supt. of Banks for 2 yrs. and Vice Pres. of the United Bank & Trust Co., of Tucson; in 1928 sold his interests there and went to Old Mexico, but returned in 1929. Was Cashier of Almont Savings Bank, Almont, Michigan at the time of his death. He grew orchids as a hobby, and hunted wild orchids through out the state of Michigan. Many of his herbarium specimens to be found at Cranbrook Univ., U.of M., M.S.U.,and Flint College..
